I’ve been enjoying dipping in and out of essay collections recently, and found this a witty, light-hearted and amusing read.
The collection reads almost like a stand-up comedy script, some of the stories had me laughing out loud and others had me nodding along in agreement! They are situational and recount episodes in the author’s life ranging from her noisy and bratty NYC neighbors and how she handles their noise, to experiences in remote settings while writing (and encounters with marijuana growing swingers!). I liked the diverse subject matter of the collection and how effortless Crosley’s prose was.
This is the perfect read if you’re commuting or traveling and need a giggle to get you through a tough day, but don’t expect anything earth-shattering from the collection.
I haven’t read any other Sloane Crosley so if there’s something you’d recommend leave me a comment below.
